Meet IRS officer Namita Sharma, who left job and cleared UPSC after failing 5 times

Namita Sharma did her graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering. After which, she worked at IBM as a software engineer for two years. However, she wasn’t happy with her work and decided to leave the job in order to prepare for UPSC.

You will be shocked to know that Namita failed the pre-exam four times in a row. According to her, she prepared a lot for the exam but not in the right direction. She said, “I started giving all government exams since I passed graduation and in this while I had exhausted my initial three attempts at UPSC without even knowing about the exam.”

Despite this, Namita did not lose hope and kept working hard. During this time, she kept moving towards her goal with patience. 

In her 5th attempt, Namita finally cleared the pre-test and reached the interview. However, she was not able to make it to the final list by a small margin. The result did not disappoint her instead, she took it in a positive way. She became more confident this time.

In CSE 2018, she secured All India Rank 145 and fulfilled her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

According to Namita, good strategy and time management are very important in order to get success in UPSC. One should not feel bad or demotivated if he/she is not able to clear the exam. She wrote, “Just focus on each day to improve yourself. YOU are your only competition. Each day becomes better and better. Be confident that THIS is your attempt. Prelims are just the starting of this long war ahead which you shall win.”
